Directors Association is a professional body dedicated to raising the standard of governance in South Africa by developing, supporting and representing company directors across the country.
We exist to build a community of knowledgeable, competent and ethical directors — equipped not only with the technical understanding of governance, but with the judgement and integrity a boardroom demands. Through structured professional development and a defined pathway of director designations, we give our members a credible, recognised way to demonstrate their readiness to serve.
Our ambition is to be the professional home for board members across South Africa — representing their interests, advocating for sound governance practice, and creating the networks and opportunities that help capable directors find their way onto boards that need them. We are particularly committed to broadening who sits in the boardroom: strengthening the pipeline of women into chair and director roles, and extending good governance to the small and medium enterprises and non-profits too often left without it.
As the voice of our members, we continue to build toward the recognition our designations deserve, so that being part of Directors Association carries the same weight, wherever in South Africa a board is being formed.
